Overview

The Universidad Sergio Arboleda is a private, non-profit university founded in Bogotá in 1984. It is named after the 19th-century Popayán jurist and thinker, and it has a humanist, classical-liberal and Catholic-inspired profile.

The main sede is at Calle 74 # 14-14, between Chapinero and the Zona G/Quinta Camacho area of north-central Bogotá. There are also sedes in Santa Marta, with about nine undergraduate programmes, and Barranquilla. A Centro de Excelencia Académica in Madrid is linked to the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.

On 3 August 2026, MEN renewed its institutional multicampus acreditación de alta calidad for six years (Resolución 020607). Earlier institutional accreditations date from 2015 and 2019.

SNIES counts 11,865 students for 2025, all sedes included. QS lists about 5,200, which probably covers Bogotá undergraduates only.

Academic programs

Programmes are grouped into *escuelas*:

Double degrees and the Madrid centre let students spend part of their degree in Spain.

Campus life

The Calle 74 campus is a compact group of buildings, not a green campus. You get a young, urban crowd, Chapinero's cafés, the Zona G and Zona Rosa restaurants and nightlife, and quick TransMilenio access on Caracas and Calle 72. Sports facilities are limited on site. Bienestar runs clubs and cultural groups. The neighbourhood is busy, and it is reasonably safe by Bogotá standards if you watch your phone.

Exchange programs

The ORI receives students from partner universities. Your home institution nominates you through an online form, then you complete an application with your transcript, course selection, passport and insurance.

For the 2025 cycle the deadlines were:

The 2026–2027 dates are published in each call, and we could not confirm them. The CNA counted 56 foreign agreements and 12 double-degree agreements. Outgoing partners include Salamanca, UNAM, Universidad del Desarrollo and César Vallejo.

Admissions

Degree applicants apply online with Saber 11 results and attend an interview. Some programmes add tests.

First-semester tuition in 2026 (per semester):

No separate rate for foreigners is published.

Foreign degree-seekers need:

Student housing

Sergio Arboleda has no residences. Rooms in Chapinero, Quinta Camacho and Teusaquillo cost roughly COP 900,000–1,300,000 a month (€245–350). Coliving buildings on Calle 72–76 charge more. Galerías and Teusaquillo are cheaper and one or two TransMilenio stops away.

Career services

The university has a career and graduates office with a job board. Its law, politics and business alumni have strong networks in government, Congress, law firms and consulting. Information pending on placement statistics — contributions welcome.
