Resumen

Universidad La Salle Bolivia (ULS) is a small private Catholic university run in the tradition of the De La Salle Brothers. It is authorised by the Ministerio de Educación under Bolivia's private-university regime, not the CEUB system. Directories give its founding date as 4 July 2003. It belongs to the International Association of La Salle Universities (IALU) and to ANUP, the national association of private universities, and it has held ISO 9001 quality certification since 2011.

ULS reports a completion rate of 83% and more than 1,753 graduates. It does not publish current enrolment, and it does not appear in QS, THE, Scimago or other major rankings, so no ranking position is given here.

Oferta académica

The licenciatura offer is short and professional: Law, Psychology, Education, Public Accounting, Systems Engineering, Commercial Engineering, and International Business and Foreign Trade, plus a complementary programme that lets working accountants complete a licenciatura. Most degrees run eight semesters. Postgraduate work is mainly diplomados in banking risk, tax, corporate law, special and inclusive education, and ISO/HSEQ management. The university publishes a journal, *Fides et Ratio*, indexed in Latindex and SciELO.

Fees. ULS does not publish its tuition. Private universities in La Paz typically charge a semester enrolment fee plus monthly instalments that depend on the number of subjects, but the only published La Salle figures date from 2011 and are not usable. Vida en el campus

The single campus is at Av. Jorge Carrasco and Las Palmas No. 450, Bolognia, a residential neighbourhood in La Paz's Zona Sur. At roughly 3,300–3,400 m it is lower, warmer and calmer than the city centre, and closer to the cafés and supermarkets of Calacoto and San Miguel. Student life is small-scale: a student parliament linked to the Parlamento Andino, a research fair, and La Salle network events, rather than the mass student politics of UMSA.

Intercambios

This is ULS's strongest point. Through IALU, students can spend a semester at any of about 62 La Salle universities worldwide. Up to 2022, 52 ULS students had gone out (to Germany, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, the USA, Mexico and the Philippines) and 10 had come in (from Germany, Colombia, France, Peru and Mexico). In August 2026 ULS signed a cooperation agreement with Universitat Ramon Llull (Barcelona) after a visiting faculty delegation. Incoming La Salle students should apply through their home La Salle international office.

Admisión

Information pending on ULS's admission test (if any), intake dates and scholarship criteria for foreigners — contributions welcome. At minimum, expect to present a Bolivian bachillerato or a validated foreign equivalent. International degree-seekers must legalise or apostille their secondary diploma and have it validated, and they must convert the 60-day Bolivian student visa into a DIGEMIG permanencia temporal de estudiante (1–3 years, renewable). An acceptance letter from ULS supports the visa.

Alojamiento

There is no student housing. Zona Sur rooms and shared flats are pricier than the centre. Recent Sopocachi listings aimed at students and foreigners ask Bs 1,100–1,200 or about USD 200 a month for a room, and Bolognia, Obrajes and Calacoto usually cost more. Listings mostly predate the 2026 devaluation, so expect asking prices to have risen.

Empleabilidad

ULS emphasises internships (prácticas and pasantías), with sector agreements such as one with the tax authority (SIN) for accounting and tax training. Information pending on a formal job board — contributions welcome.
